The cross-pollination of Firefly and Desperate Housewives
The new season of Desperate Housewives has brought a new family to the neighborhood, whose husband/step-father character is played by none other than Firefly's Nathan Fillion (who played Mal Reynolds). This has brought me no small measure of entertainment, especially in scenes where it's relevant that the character is a gynecologist.
Watching episodes of Firefly today, I had a similar moment when I realized the Alliance Commander in "Bushwhacked" is played by Doug Savant, who plays the husband of one of the four Housewives (Tom, for them's that watch DH but are bad with names).
